2026 Volleyball Preview: Pekin looking to grow with young squad

PEKIN – After graduating a large class of seven seniors last season, the Pekin Dragons volleyball team has many holes to fill this fall.
The Dragons return only three varsity starters after a 10-win season and the team hopes to reload and spark a renewed effort with fresh faces on the squad.
Twenty-seventh year head coach Yvonne Thopmson has plenty of experience to make this possible. Plus, her players believe this is the closest Pekin’s varsity volleyball team has bonded in years. This projects to be a strength for the Dragons as they roll into the 2026 season.
