Week 7 was a prime example of the topsy-turvy year that Central Illinois high school football is having.
Olympia had lost three games in a row so what did the Spartans do? They beat the No. 1 team in Class 2A by two touchdowns. Peoria Notre Dame’s win over Bloomington wasn’t an upset of the kind you’d see in movies, but the margin of the Irish’ win — 53-19 — turned many heads and further jumbled up the Big 12.
Both of those teams entered the CSM Power Rankings after being on the outside last week while three other teams moved up. Washington and Normal Community continued to see-saw in the large school No. 1 spot while three undefeated suitors have strong cases for the top rankings among area small schools.
Check out how the CSM Football Power Rankings heading into Week 8 of the regular season shook out below. Area schools in the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the teams in the large school rankings while area teams in all other conferences are in the small school rankings.
