DUNLAP — Two Class 6A powerhouses put their undefeated conference records on the line in Week 7 as No. 5 Dunlap hosted No. 7 Washington.
It wasn’t going to be easy, but it was an opportunity for the Panthers to prolong a talking point that’s taken over the Mid-Illini.
A 23-15 win over the Eagles gave Washington its 24th straight conference win and the inside path to its third straight Mid-Illini title. It’s a stretch of dominance that’s even more impressive considering the perennial strength of the conference’s upper half.
Time and again, many have wondered if the Panthers would trip and allow another team through the door. And for the third straight year, the answer appears to be no.
