Central Illinois high school football teams had something to prove in Week 2 of the season.
Teams that started the year 1-0 looked to show that they are for real and squads such as Metamora, Tri-Valley and Heyworth did so. Several area powerhouses — many of which are in the Bloomington/Normal area — wanted to prove for another week that they could live up to lofty expectations and did.
Other teams that started the year 0-1 were eager to get back in the win column and Peoria Notre Dame, Morton and Pekin did so in a big way.
With Week 3 on the horizon, several teams will be able to almost lock up playoff spots in the expanded postseason field by moving to 3-0.
