Dunlap baseball aiming to rely on Mid-Illini title-winning recipe in postseason

DUNLAP — Sixty-four teams remain in the Class 3A baseball playoffs heading into Saturday’s regional title games.
Few of them have been tested as much as the Dunlap Eagles.
The Mid-Illini Conference offered all eight teams a hefty challenge this year. Five teams won 22 or more games during the regular season and even the No. 2 pitchers on most every squad would have been aces anywhere else.
But Eric Stone’s team is the one that came out on top with the hard-earned regular season title and will look to represent the conference well in the postseason. With confidence riding high, the Eagles are looking to reach state for the first time since 2000 as well.
“I’ve been doing this for a long time and the talent in this conference, the teams in this conference, it's the best one through five I've ever seen,” Stone, a coaching veteran of over 30 years said.
