PEKIN, IL- The Dunlap Eagles came in as a hungry group after losing to Pekin on their home field last year. The Eagles used that hunger to fuel them to a victory against the Dragons 28-27 overtime.

After throwing dueling blows against Class 6A No. 7 Dunlap all throughout regulation, Pekin wasted no time in finding the endzone in overtime on a lateral to Ty Jackson, who ran it into the endzone for a touchdown to put the Dragons up 27-21.

As their extra point kick went up, the loud doink of the left goalpost rang out across Pekin Memorial Stadium.

Not only was it the sound of a missed extra point but it was also the sound of the door opening for Dunlap to get revenge on the one point loss that Pekin handed them last year.

It then took two plays for Dunlap’s Jayden Schmick to find the end zone, getting a push from behind from his quarterback Truman Tyra. Eagles kicker Landon Grant trotted onto the field with a chance to give his team a rare football walk-off.
