El Paso-Gridley leads 15 area teams in first statewide football rankings of 2026

With the first high school football games right around the corner, preseason rankings for all eight classes have been released by the Illinois media.
The rankings were compiled from a list of Illinois high school media members and are taking the place of the former Associated Press (AP) weekly rankings.
A total of 15 Central Illinois teams were either ranked or received votes, led by El Paso-Gridley, who took the No. 2 spot in Class 2A.
