In life after DeLong, Statham ready to take reins of Morton soccer: “A really good opportunity”

MORTON — For the first time in a decade, there’ll be a new man in charge on the sidelines for Morton’s soccer teams.
Galesburg graduate Zach Statham is set to kick off a new era for the Potters in the fall after the retirement of longtime coach Tory DeLong. Like his predecessor, Statham will lead both the boys’ and girls’ teams at Morton in an effort to continue their yearly success.
“[DeLong] and I had a conversation when I got hired and I told him, there are very big shoes to fill,” Statham said. “But he's been super supportive and super helpful so far and [I’m] just trying to keep the program’s traditions alive.”
