‘Nice to see that growth’: IVC wins second straight in blowout against Elmwood/Brimfield

CHILLICOTHE — In honor of the start of “spooky season”, it was only fitting that the IVC Grey Ghosts make their home field a haunted house.
And that’s exactly what they did, putting on a dominant performance to beat non-conference opponent Elmwood/Brimfield 51-8 after a rough start to the season, especially in conference play.
“It’s so nice to be on this side of it after going through the meat grinder early on,” IVC head coach Cameron Bailliez said. “We faced a really good, well-coached Prairie Central team and a really athletic Pontiac team, so it’s nice to see that growth from the kids.”
Going into this matchup, IVC had a record of 1-5 while their opponents, Elmwood/Brimfield, were at 3-3. However, IVC proved that its gauntlet of conference opponents — including state-ranked Monticello, Bloomington Central Catholic and St. Joseph-Ogden teams — prepare them well for games like Friday.
Elmwood/Brimfield, a member of the LincolnLand West Conference, hadn’t faced IVC for several decades.
