BRADLEY, ILL – After the final out of the second inning, Normal Community baseball head coach Ryan Short called his team over for a quick meeting by the dugout.

The Ironmen were uncharacteristically put on the ropes early. Bradley-Bourbonnais was barreling baseballs en route to a 7-1 lead in the first two innings. The final two runs in a five-run second inning were from a home run to right field by the Boilermakers’ Cody Youngblood.

Short thought the time called for a message to his guys.

“It was just [that] we need to be who we are,” Short said about what he said to his players. “We can't get on the roller coaster, maybe it was more of a reminder to myself of not to be on the roller coaster and just be who we are.”
