Normal Community, U-High girls soccer keep regional title streaks alive

NORMAL — Normal Community’s girls soccer season hasn’t exactly been a straight path.
The Iron endured winding turns of replacing a large senior class and dealing with several injuries, including to their star player. They experienced big wins and, at times, the growing pains of having a younger team.
But on Friday night, Normal Community wasted no time blazing its on path on the way to a Class 3A regional title with a 4-2 win over rival Normal West.
“I'm really proud of these girls, because it's been difficult to have a full team all year because of injuries and illnesses and things like that,” Normal Community head coach Matt Chapman said. “Everyone has that story, but this team is really just kind of kept fighting back and kept clawing back and kept doing all the little things that are needed.”
