The Roundup, May 23, 2025: Regional, conference titles handed out in multiple sports

Friday was a day for titles in Central Illinois high school sports.
In regional play, Canton, Brimfield/Elmwood and Olympia won regional softball plaques, along with Delavan who downed Illini Bluffs in a stunning upset. Elsewhere in softball, Normal Community clinched the Big 12 title in a wild finish against Bloomington and Dunlap earned a share of the Mid-Illini crown.
Five girls soccer teams won regional titles and featured standout performances from Peoria Notre Dame’s Ava LaFollette and Normal U-High’s Aubrey Balota. Farmington, Heyworth, Limestone and Normal Community won in baseball.
Class 2A and 3A prelims at the IHSA State Finals in girls track and field wrapped up with Normal U-High and Eureka advancing the most athletes out of the area teams. Boys track and field and tennis also featured sectional action.
