Normal U-High holds off Champaign Central comeback to secure regional title

BLOOMINGTON — Normal U-High knew it had a special group coming into the season.
After a 24-win regular season, the Pioneers knew they could validate that fact by winning a Class 3A regional title. They succeeded by holding off a big fourth-quarter comeback attempt from Champaign Central and won 58-54 to take home the Class 3A Bloomington Regional title.
“We’ve been wanting this all year long, the 3A regional championship is a big deal for us,” Normal U-High senior Cameron Johnson said, “We haven’t had one in a few years so I think it showcased all the hard work we put in this year.”
