GALESBURG — Patience is a virtue that the East Peoria basketball program has learned the hard way for nearly three decades.
The Raiders community knew it had something special enough to win its first regional title since Michael Jordan was in the midst of leading the Chicago Bulls to its second three-peat when Quinton Kitt and Cole DuBois entered the scene. The only question was when would the perennial heartbreak end?
That question doesn’t need to be asked anymore as East Peoria exacted revenge from a midseason loss to Peoria High and overcame a relentless effort from the Lions to win a regional plaque for the first time since 1997 in a 68-57 victory on Friday night.
