Oakman giving Raiders rotation major lift after three-year pause from baseball

EAST PEORIA — Dalton Oakman has seen gradual progression as a standout multi-sport athlete for East Peoria.
He’s been the Raiders starting quarterback the last two years, breaking out late in the season as a sophomore, leading them to a two-win improvement in his junior year and throwing for 1,650 yards and 19 touchdowns in his senior year.
He’s also stood out on the wrestling mats, going from someone who didn’t make it far in the postseason as an underclassman to a two-time IHSA state qualifier and conference and regional champion.
On the baseball diamond however, Oakman’s rise has been much more rapid.
