Pair of 6A squads move up, headline 14 Central Illinois teams in Illinois media rankings

After a Week 1 that saw several Central Illinois powers win big and some drop to 0-1, a total of 14 area teams were either ranked or received votes in the Illinois media statewide rankings.
Normal West and Dunlap, two squads in the Class 6A rankings, both experienced a three-spot jump after impressive wins to start the year. Heyworth also moved up multiple spots in Class 1A.
A large swath of teams that lost in the Class 5A rankings allowed Morton and Peoria High to remain in the top 10 despite opening the season with a loss.
The Illinois media poll is comprised of a panel of media members from across the state and replaces the former Associated Press (AP) rankings.
