Record-breaking season for Tri-Valley ends against Pleasant Plains in supersectionals

PLEASANT PLAINS — Tri-Valley had the cards and plenty of height stacked against it on Monday night. 


The Vikings sought to extend a historic 31-win season into the state weekend, but could not overcome a second-quarter spiral that energized Class 2A super-sectional host Pleasant Plains and fell 54-37. 


The Cardinals, who boasted a pair of all-state players, had a response for each spurt the Vikings made after that.


“It was a little tight at the beginning, we had a hard time matching their athleticism,” Tri-Valley head coach Brent Ward said. “We have a really special group of kids but Pleasant Plains was just a little too much.”
