PEORIA — Friday night was all about flipping the script at Peoria Notre Dame.
The matchup between Richwoods and PND’s girls teams wasn’t 5:30 p.m. undercard. It was the 7 p.m. main event, a bout between two trains that had been waiting to finally collide and entered the night at undefeated in Big 12 play
The Irish seemed destined to win early on. Coming out fired up after being honored on her senior night, Lexi Baer’s four first-frame threes had just as much of an effect on The Kitchen’s decibel level as it did the scoreboard.
But Richwoods, who received huge buckets from junior Kayla Herron and sophomore Keniya Todd time and again, came back from two separate deficits, made a big fourth quarter run and stole a win from its rival in a 55-44 victory.
“This is probably one of the best wins [I’ve had at Richwoods],” Knights head coach Shemar Hill said. “We played a lot of games this year against some of the top teams in the state so I felt like this was due. I’m so happy for everybody.”
