Mid-Illini Conference by-laws stipulate that any teams in first place finishing with the same conference record will share the conference title, with no tie-breakers being used. That rule has gotten its fair share of use over the past two seasons with no team winning the conference outright since Metamora in 2023. History could repeat itself in 2026 with a bevy of teams capable of winning the conference crown.

Washington led six teams that finished .500 or better last season by winning 31 games and splitting the title with Dunlap. Both teams bring back multiple all-conference players in 2026 and will be among the teams with the biggest targets on their back in all of Class 3A. Metamora, despite losing Kaidance Till and several more mainstays, will firmly be in the mix with a new-look group that can compete. East Peoria, Pekin and Canton are all wild cards that can give any of the aforementioned teams a run for their money. Limestone and Morton both endured tough years in 2025, but keep most of their production from last year in-house.

Below is Clutch Sports Media’s spring scope-out for Mid-Illini softball with primers on each team in the conference, highlighting what and who to watch out for in the 2026 season.
