The Mid-Illini baseball race is always one of the most entertaining to follow of any sport in Central Illinois. That looks to be the case again in 2026, where four or more teams could be in contention down to the wire with a solid mix of returners and breakout stars that figure to play key roles.

Washington is the defending conference champion and advanced to the Class 3A super-sectionals last season. The Panthers and Dunlap will have to replenish voids left by some of the conference’s best players, but are capable of 25-plus win seasons. East Peoria brings back an enviable amount of firepower while Morton has plenty of depth to go around in head coach Ryan Lindley’s first season. Limestone and Metamora have a familiar group of pitchers that can make them dark horse candidates while Canton and Pekin are eager to improve from last season.

Below is Clutch Sports Media’s spring scope-out for Mid-Illini baseball with primers on each team in the conference, highlighting what and who to watch out for in the 2026 season.
