Several schools in Central Illinois kicked off the week with their teams winning in baseball and softball while many area girls track and field teams got their last chance to compete before the Illinois Top Times meet this weekend.

Brimfield/Elmwood, Pekin and Metamora took wins in baseball and softball while several Bloomington/Normal-area squads headed south for tournaments in Florida and Alabama.

Limestone and Morton baseball won against Big 12 foes and Tremont, Canton and Washington all were victorious in key non-conference softball games. Limestone and Richwoods led the way in girls soccer and Normal U-High’s Hannah Safanek and Henry-Midland’s Daniella Bumber were among many area winners at the Clinton Last Chance Indoor Invite in girls track and field.
