The Roundup, March 20, 2026: East Peoria, U-High baseball win twice, trio of softball teams win in extras, Eureka shines in track

East Peoria and Normal U-High baseball built some early season momentum with a pair of victories and headlined a long list of area baseball teams that won on Friday. Multiple Central Illinois squads played in the Metro East Kickoff Classic and won while Metamora, Dunlap, Washington and Dee-Mack all cruised to wins as well.
Success wasn’t as widespread for area softball teams on Friday, but Eureka, Canton and East Peoria all won key non-conference contests in extra innings. Eureka’s boys and girls track teams swept the Heart of Illinois Conference Indoor Meet.
