There were no shortage of exciting finishes on the baseball and softball diamonds on Thursday with 10 games being decided by two runs or less.

Washington baseball and Eureka softball were victorious via walk-offs while Normal Community baseball and Bloomington softball hung on for one-run wins. Sparkling pitching performances dotted the area as two Tremont pitchers combined for a no-hitter and Brimfield/Elmwood’s Sean Crowe, Tri-Valley’s Sam Knochel, Dunlap’s Sutton Centoni and Bloomington’s Reilly Vetter among many to impress with their arms. Pekin and Washington were among several softball teams to light it up with their bats too.

Many soccer teams were in action with victories by Limestone and Peoria Notre Dame headlining the day. A dozen area boys track and field teams competed at the Pontiac Indoor Invite as well.
