Strong third quarter propels Metamora over Dunlap as Redbirds move on to regional final

MORTON – With 53 seconds left in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s Class 3A Morton Regional semifinal game, Metamora called a timeout.

The Redbirds were previously up by ten, but their opponent Dunlap had slowly cut the lead to four over the past seven minutes. Head coach Justin Dehm gathered his players in the huddle and explained the game plan one more time.

“We got into our new press offense, they’re going to come trap,” Dehm said. “You gotta take care of it, we’ve got timeouts left.
