The Roundup, Aug. 22, 2025: Normal U-High, Ocheltree/Ruiz tandem wins Bloomington Best Ball

While many schools held their scrimmage/fall introduction nights on Friday, multiple girls golf teams played in official action on Friday afternoon at the Bloomington Best Ball Tournament.


Normal U-High won the event by five strokes over Normal Community with Dunlap showcasing its depth and Bloomington Central Catholic finishing in the top three.

In girls golf


At Bloomington: Normal U-High won the Bloomington Best Ball Tournament at Highland Park Golf Course by five strokes over crosstown rival Normal Community, shooting a 148. The Pioneers’ duo of Natalie Ocheltree and Sofia Ruiz won medalist honors with a 72 while Audrey Hitt and Kendall O’Connor tallied a 76. Both of Normal Community’s pairings finished in the top five with Savanna Siegrist and Ryann Graham taking second with a 74 while Bailey Engel and Zoey Wilde carded a 79. Bloomington Central Catholic finished third as a team with a 171, led by Caroline Braucht and Maddie Bradbury’s 79. Dunlap fielded two squads as its Gold team took fourth with a 173 and its Maroon team fired a 187 to take fifth. Campbell Vrabel and Norah O’Leary led the Gold team with an 81 and the tandem of Elin Fleming/Morgan Fleming shot an 83. Bloomington finished sixth with a 191 as the team of Ella Bloomfield and Audrey Elver led the Purple Raiders with a 95. Normal West’s 193 was close behind, paced by Eva Bankston and Addie Williams’ 91. Heyworth rounded out the area competitors in ninth as Carolina Ferrie, playing solo, led the Hornets with a 107.
