Monday marked the first events of the season for boys soccer, volleyball girls flag football and cross country in Illinois and several teams wasted no time making an impression.

Dunlap took down reigning Class 2A state semifinalist Bloomington Central Catholic in volleyball while Metamora won in three sets and several other Mid-Illini squads won. Bloomington and Peoria Notre Dame lit up the scoreboard in boys soccer and Washington followed up its magical season with a victory kick off 2026. Normal U-High played its first flag football game in program history against Richwoods as well.

Peoria Notre Dame and Jack Coulter were no match for the competition as Coulter went several strokes under par at TPC Deere Run, home to the PGA TOUR’s John Deere Classic and many more boys and girls golfers were in action. Princeville and Illini Bluffs’ Audrey Dickinson led the way at the Farmington Invitational in cross country.
