Friday’s basketball and wrestling slate wasn’t short on highlights as entertaining conference contests abounded in hoops and sectional wrestling kicked off as well.

East Peoria completed a ridiculous comeback in the fourth quarter on the road against Metamora behind a huge effort from Quinton Kitt. Olympia, El Paso-Gridley and Pekin also won tight games. Farmington, Morton, Bloomington Central Catholic and Roanoke-Benson each sustained their impressive play as of late.

Boys and girls wrestling sectionals began as over 50 area wrestlers advanced to Saturday’s semifinals and many more still alive in consolation brackets.
