Ten Central Illinois girls basketball teams saw their road to state end but 16 area squads from Class 1A-4A won in regional semifinals on Thursday.
Dunlap and Eureka overcame strong opponents while six area Heart of Illinois Conference teams moved on for the chance to clinch some hardware. Heyworth’s Alia Riddle and Tri-Valley’s Addy Freihaut both put up head-turning games as well. Most higher-up seeds won handily but IVC suffered a big upset loss.
