The Roundup, Jan. 3, 2026: Peoria High knocks off EP, Bloomington and Metamora win twice, plus big dual wrestling tournaments

The first Saturday of 2026 brought the first loss of the season for East Peoria boys basketball, who was victimized by a strong effort by Peoria High in a big-time showdown. 

Bloomington and Metamora grabbed victories in boys and girls hoops and Morton’s boys earned a big non-conference win. Eureka, Peoria Heights, Limestone and Brimfield all survived close affairs on the boys side while Dunlap and Farmington stayed hot on the girls side. 

Many of the area’s top wrestling teams fared well in dual tournaments, including Morton, Normal Community, Heyworth and Washington. Olympia and Bloomington also had tournament winners in girls wrestling.
