The Roundup, Jan. 6, 2026: Morton, Dunlap win thrillers, O’Brien hits 1K, Midwest Central beats the buzzer

Nearly every gym in Central Illinois saw a big performance or captivating game on Tuesday in boys and girls basketball.

In the Mid-Illini, Morton and Dunlap picked up impressive wins on the boys side while Washington, Metamora and Morton won big on the girls side. Washington’s Mazzy O’Brien reached her 1,000th career point as well. 

Elsewhere, Midwest Central boys won on an overtime buzzer beater in a wild game against Olympia and Heyworth edged past Dee-Mack in a game that required more than regulation.
