The Roundup, May 13, 2026: Dozens of athletes qualify for state in girls track and field, Morton and Metamora baseball notch big Mid-Illini wins

The first postseason events for the spring season kicked off on Wednesday with girls track and field sectionals.
Eureka won the Class 2A Metamora Sectional title while dozens of other athletes, including large contingents from Normal U-High, Morton, Metamora, Normal West, Henry/Midland and Elmwood/Brimfield qualified for next week’s state finals. Also on the track, Normal Community’s boys team won the Big 12 Conference title.
Metamora and Pekin won Mid-Illini games with walkoffs while Morton picked up a big win over Dunlap to keep the Mid-Illini an open race heading into the final week of the regular season. Tremont, Richwoods and Normal West were among others to win in baseball while Olympia, IVC and Peoria Notre Dame led the way in softball. Girls soccer and boys lacrosse featured local winners as well.
