The Roundup, May 19, 2026: Plenty of area softball, girls soccer teams advance in regionals, Morton baseball earns big Mid-Illini win

Playoff action got into full swing on Tuesday with softball, girls soccer and lacrosse.
Brimfield/Elmwood, Normal U-High, Washington, Heyworth and Olympia all won shutouts in softball while Eureka won on a walk-off and IVC’s Ella Ransom threw a no-hitter.
Girls soccer winners included four squads from the Mid-Illini and two from the Big 12 with big performances from Morton’s Claire Ceresa, Richwoods’ Acosia Morris, Normal U-High’s Aubrey Balota and Bloomington Central Catholic’s Caroline Braucht leading the way. Bloomington-Normal picked up postseason victories in boys and girls lacrosse as well.
Tuesday’s baseball action featured Tremont setting a program record plus Morton, Heyworth and Normal U-High among many local teams to come away victorious.
