The Roundup, May 20, 2026: State spots clinched in boys track and field, nine area softball teams advance

A wide majority of boys track and field teams in the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area competed at sectionals and had multiple state qualifiers come out of them on Wednesday.
Farmington and El Paso-Gridley won sectional titles on the ovals while nine area softball teams, including Peoria Notre Dame, Illini Bluffs and Metamora all won regional semifinal contests. It was a busy day in baseball with many teams starting to wrap up their regular seasons and Dunlap clinching the outright Mid-Illini Conference title.
