The Roundup, May 7, 2025: Washington completes big sweep, Dunlap girls track wins Mid-Illini, pitchers shine bright

Conference races in multiple sports began to take shape more on Wednesday after several big games in baseball, softball and girls soccer.


Washington baseball continued its recent surge while Morton and Limestone earned series splits. Normal West and Normal Community both won marquee contests and Fieldcrest walked off a winner on the diamond. Limestone, Washington and Illini Bluffs were among the day’s softball winners, PND girls soccer won a big game and Dunlap won the Mid-Illini Conference Meet in girls track. 


Several athletes had huge performances, including Canton’s Miles Hoopes, Richwoods’ Cameron Hayes, Brimfield/Elmwood’s Layne Johnson, Normal Community’s Jonah Roper, and Washington’s Joe Atkins and Gavin Lawrence.
