The Roundup, Oct. 1, 2024: Girls golf regionals lead way, Orris’ late goal gives Dunlap big Mid-Illini win

Every girls golf team in the area kicked off the postseason on Tuesday with IHSA regionals taking place across the state. Six area teams and 18 individuals advanced to the sectional round, which will be played on Oct. 7, including medalists Sydney Hunt of Dunlap, McKenzie Howard of Peoria Notre Dame and Elle Filarski of Tri-Valley.

Washington grabbed a key volleyball win but Dunlap broke the Panthers’ hearts on the soccer pitch in a matchup of two of the top teams in the area thanks to late goal from Jackson Orris. 

Limestone and Normal U-High were winners in both volleyball and soccer and cross country runners from PND and Elmwood shone bright in big meets.
