The Roundup, Sept. 18, 2026: East Peoria, Bloomington win nail-biters, EPG, Pekin Morton, BCC, Farmington victorious in big Week 5 matchups
Week 5 provided several teams with opportunities to win big games and many of them delivered.
In large school action, Pekin and Morton put up impressive showings against Mid-Illini contenders while East Peoria won in comeback fashion in overtime, Bloomington eked out a one-point win and Normal West kept rolling.
In small school games, El Paso-Gridley won a battle of two Heart of Central Illinois Conference goliaths while Bloomington Central Catholic knocked off unbeaten Monticello, Farmington got back on track with a rivalry win and Heyworth and Olympia also extended win streaks. Princeville and Peoria Heights both won their first games of the season as well.
Other action included a big non-conference volleyball matchup between Peoria Christian and Midland and the first day of the Pekin Dragon Classic in boys golf.
