MOLINE — It can be said that good things come to those who wait, something East Peoria baseball has done patiently for decades. At long last, the Raiders can say the wait is over.

For the first time since 1974 and second time in program history, East Peoria is heading to state in baseball after a dominant 8-1 win over Geneva in the Class 3A Geneseo Super-Sectional that was held at Black Hawk College in Moline.

With few outs remaining and a big lead in hand, the Raiders and a sizable contingent of fans began to sense victory and freshman Eli Martin got the call to finish off things in the seventh.

A slow roller to shortstop Jackson Ahrens was good enough to record the game’s final out and officially etch the 2026 Raiders team in the history books.

“It’s unbelievable,” Plummer said about the win. “It means everything to these guys and that means everything to me. I love my family, I love this town and I’m just so proud today”.
