Washington girls, Manual boys headline first AP statewide rankings of 2025-26 season

The first Associated Press statewide rankings of the 2025-26 boys and girls basketball season released on Wednesday with seven boys teams and 10 girls teams either ranked in the top 10 or receiving votes in their respective classes.

Washington girls and Manual boys earned the highest rankings of the bunch while Class 3A boys and Class 1A girls both featured three Central Illinois squads.
