2025 Boys Soccer Preview: Washington looking to get over sectional hump with experienced roster

WASHINGTON — After winning three regional titles and at least 17 games in each of the past four seasons, Washington has etched itself as one of the top boys soccer programs in the area. 


Last season, Washington nearly made a statewide statement in the sectional championship game but fell to Peoria Notre Dame in a penalty kick shootout. The Panthers have never won a sectional title in program history, something they believe they can achieve in 2025.


Although the Panthers graduated a handful of Mid-Illini all-conference selections from a year ago, including all-stater Bernie Winne, the Panthers return an upperclassmen-heavy roster as they look to continue their upward trajectory.


Senior all-conference selections Isaac Reetz and Hudson Scrivner, along with John Clift, headline the returners for the Panthers, who will also have a freshman, Oliver Wettstein, start at goalie.
