2025 Football Preview: Morton looks for redemption with several star playmakers

MORTON — Ever since IHSA football returned to normalcy in the fall of 2021, Morton has been riding a pendulum.

In 2021 and 2023, it swung in the Potters’ favor as they finished near the top of the Mid-Illini. In 2022 and 2024, despite still being highly competitive, they missed out on the playoffs by one game.

Few things separated Morton from being a playoff team; it lost two conference games by three points and two non-conference games to state powers. The Potters won three straight games with the backs of their playoff hopes against the wall before falling to Washington in the season’s final game.
