WASHINGTON — Washington has long been a force in Central Illinois football, but the Panthers are entering the 2025 season with a chance to make school history.
Coming off back-to-back Mid-Illini titles, the Panthers are hunting a three-peat — something head coach Todd Stevens says hasn’t happened at Washington in decades.
“I think it happened maybe in the ‘80s,” Stevens said. “But from 1996 on, I can’t remember a time we did it. This year, we’ve got the bullseye. Everybody’s coming for us.”
The Panthers’ 2024 campaign saw them bounce back from a slow start to claim a second straight conference crown, their 19th consecutive conference win and counting and a postseason berth.
Though the playoff run ended earlier than hoped, the team’s physical, run-heavy style and special teams dominance stood out once again.
