MACKINAW — Since its Class 2A championship in 2016, Dee-Mack football has made five postseason berths, but has won just one playoff game.
However, with a new quarterback leading the way and a nice supporting cast, this year’s Chiefs team is eager to take that next step.
“Our kids just understand what we’re asking them to do,” head coach Cody Myers said.
After going 5-4 during the 2024 regular season, the Chiefs lost to a close game in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to No. 1 seed and state semifinalist Farmington. At halftime, the teams were level at 0-0, but the Farmers pulled away in the second half to win 21-0.
The end to the Chiefs’ season has given them something to try and improve on.
