2025 Volleyball Preview: ‘Scrappy’ PND squad looks to rely on added experience, staying healthy

PEORIA — Being resilient and ready for anything are two skills that young athletes can learn through sports.Peoria Notre Dame volleyball knows that from experience. 


Contrary to the school’s mascot, PND didn’t have much luck of the Irish last season, losing several key players to injury. This year, they’ll have to deal with the loss of lengthy junior Cora Heinz, who is pursuing a collegiate future in basketball. 


Nevertheless, the Irish have plenty of reasons why they can make a jump up after finishing in the upper half of the Big 12 last season. Second-team all-Big 12 setter Mady Gibson and all-conference honorable mention Aidan Maloney headline a team that boasts good experience and a strong desire to win. 


Not only are the Irish experienced, they’re familiar with each other and look to use those close ties against a challenging schedule that will prepare them for the Class 2A playoffs.
