2025 Softball Preview: Washington wanting to scratch another 20-win season

In 11 years leading the program, Stephanie Lawson led the Washington softball program to 20 or more wins in 10 of those seasons. Last year was the outlier, as the Panthers finished with a 17-14 record in a very competitive Mid-Illini Conference and are looking to improve upon that this spring.
The team lost 150 innings pitched by Bailey Herrick, but still return senior and Valaparaiso commit Jenna Flessner and sophomore all-conference player Payton Swanson to guide the Panthers through a slate full of tests. Washington has the pieces to be a talented group, it’s just a matter of where the pieces all fall on the picture.
