NORMAL — After four straight seasons of 30 or more wins, Normal West volleyball is looking to rinse and repeat with many of its stars back in the fold.

It’s obvious to say the Wildcats have a winning culture. Normal West hasn’t lost a game in the Big 12 since 2022 and have won the conference in back to back years. This year, it expects to do the same, but with some unfinished business to take care of as well.

The Wildcats won a Class 4A sectional title last season, before falling to Chicago Marist one game shy of a state berth. With new enrollment figures from the IHSA now putting the Wildcats back in Class 3A, they’ll have their eyes on a state run.

Leading the group will be several high-level upperclassmen, including Virginia Tech commit Avery Feltes, Laine Thompson and Olivia Ziemer. The Wildcats’ front line, which includes Feltes, Ziemer, Eden Hafermann and Ella Feltes, provides no shortage of height which they plan to couple with improved defense and ball control.
