METAMORA — Briggs Bucy spent a lot of time working on his shot in Toepke Gym over the fall.
The Metamora junior had to make up for lost time as a broken elbow kept him sidelined for the entirety of the summer. Bucy would come to the gym nearly every night after practices or tournaments with the Redbirds golf team.
The hard work paid off in a big way on Friday night as he decimated rival Washington in the first half, helping build a lead that Metamora didn’t relinquish in a 65-46 win in the first game of the Redbird Roundball Classic.
“We tell the guys all the time that [hard work] doesn't guarantee anything, but at least it gives you a chance when you put in more time than everybody else,” Metamora head coach Justin Dehm said. “I got to give him credit, he's been great for us all year.”
