Rivalry games across Central Illinois heated up several gyms on a bone-chilling night.
Metamora and Farmington boys basketball won contests against their foremost rivals to stay hot while Peoria High and Peoria Notre Dame split a boys-girls Big 12 doubleheader.
Richwoods and Normal Community swept such doubleheaders to stay near the top of the conference standings while Bloomington and Normal West split in a crosstown rivalry.
Tremont clutched up down the stretch to move on to Saturday’s Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament title game. In Mid-Illini girls action, Washington survived a spirited upset bid by Pekin.
