Chestnut has career performance as Raiders dominate in first round victory

BLOOMINGTON — On a cold night in Bloomington, the Bloomington Purple Raiders’ offense was red hot in a 57-26 win over Mascoutah in the first round of the IHSA 5A playoffs.
A battle of two 6-3 teams was one of dueling punches, but the Raiders’ ground game paved their way through to the second round. Ky’Veon Chestnut spearheaded the charge with a career performance of 289 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
“Really proud of the way these guys prepared and executed the game plan” Bloomington head coach Niall Mulcahy said. “Multiple guys were able to step up when we needed them to.”
