256 teams across the state of Illinois have one goal this week: survive and advance.
The brackets, dates and kickoff times have been set for the first round of the IHSA football playoffs, which begin on Friday night.
Nineteen teams from the Clutch Sports Media coverage area are in the playoff fields across seven of the eight classes. There are three games that pit area foes against each other: Pekin at Dunlap (Class 6A), Normal U-High at Washington (Class 5A) and Heyworth at Princeville (Class 1A).
Twelve out of those nineteen teams earned higher seeds and will host first-round playoff games.
Clutch Sports Media will be providing free, live broadcasts of Pekin taking on Dunlap on Friday night at 7, as well as Metamora facing Chicago South Shore on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in our WMBD Games of the Week. Those games will be streamed here, as well as on the WMBD+ app on smart TVs.
CSM will also have a free, live broadcast of Washington and Normal U-High’s first-round matchup on Friday night at 7 p.m. That game will be streamed on clutchsportsil.com and our YouTube channel.
Our staff has made their predictions for all 16 area first-round playoff games with their comments also listed below. Broadcasters for our broadcasted games are ineligible to pick winners for the game that they are broadcasting and will pick the winner of an extra game instead.
