MACKINAW — Virgil Jacobs Gym seldom gets louder than when Route 9 rivals Tremont and Deer Creek-Mackinaw face off.

On Wednesday, it was the site of a special, regional semifinal edition of the longtime rivalry on the volleyball court that saw both teams see-saw back and forth for two and a half sets. Tremont took control midway through the first set for a 25-19 win before Dee-Mack staved off the Turks with a 25-22 win in set two.
